PROJECT STORY

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 earned its reputation the hard way, on a track, not a spec sheet. At the heart of it sits the LT6, a 5.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 with a flat plane crankshaft pulled straight from the architecture of Chevy's C8.R race car. It's widely considered the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever put into a production car, and it makes 670 horsepower while revving to an 8,600 rpm redline, numbers you'd expect from an Italian exotic, not something built in Kentucky.

Fun fact, the Z06 shares its wide body with the E Ray, and straight from the factory it already runs a staggered setup, 20 inch wheels up front and 21 inch out back. That's rare air for an American car, and it tells you Chevy built this thing to be planted from the ground up.

That same track focused mindset is exactly why magnesium has become such a popular choice for custom wheels and offsets on a car like this. Magnesium wheels trace their roots back to 1946, when an aircraft engineer named Ted Halibrand first built them for racing, and the material never really left the sport since. Formula 1, MotoGP, and Indy cars still lean on magnesium because it can run 20 to 25 percent lighter than aluminum at the same strength. Less rotational weight means the suspension reacts faster, braking feels sharper, and the whole car changes direction with less effort, exactly what a naturally aspirated, high revving car like the Z06 rewards.

For this build we used our Forgelite MG01, a Magnesium Monoblock wheel finished in Titanium Alloy Gloss Clear, with the logos and rim text filled in purple for a bit of contrast against the metal. Up front we ran a 20x10 fitment, and out back a 21x13, both built on a 5x120 bolt pattern with a 66.9 center bore, conical seat hardware, and knurled tire beads for extra grip at the bead.

The MG01 was built for cars exactly like this Z06, light enough to matter on track, strong enough to handle real power, and finished to look every bit as serious as the car wearing it. Every set from Forgelite Wheels is built to order, so this Z06 got a fitment made specifically for it, which is what separates real aftermarket wheels from something pulled off a shelf.
