The C8 Z06 doesn't need any help getting noticed. The engine sits behind you, the body is already wide, and the thing looks quick just sitting still in a parking lot. So this project was never about fixing anything. The owner just wanted it to feel like his.
Started with a render, like everything we do. We had the deep metallic red to work with, the carbon aero already on the car, the yellow calipers sitting behind the spokes. We pushed the design around on screen with the owner until the proportions and the finish both felt right. Then it went into build.
The setup is our MG03 in 20x10 front and 21x13 rear, 5x120 bolt pattern, 66.9mm hub bore.
The finish is what makes this one. Midnight Misty Gloss sits somewhere between black and a deep blue and it never really settles on either. In the shade it looks almost black next to the tire. Get it into direct sun and the blue comes up across the spoke faces, cool against all that red, close to the same tone as the tinted glass. It changes as you walk around the car. That's the whole idea.
The part we like most is the process. Watching a wheel go from a render, to something being built on the floor here, to the day it's finally under the car. You don't get that buying off a shelf.
The 21x13 rear fills out the hips the way the body always wanted, and this owner wanted more than that. He ran spacers to push the faces right out to the arches and get the widest stance the car would take. It worked. The gap between tire and fender basically disappears, and the car sits square and planted even parked. The open spoke face leaves the yellow calipers on full display. It's still a C8 Z06 through and through. It just carries something now that only a custom set gives you.
