A 2013 Grand Sport is a bit of a send off. Last year of the C6, and Chevrolet marked the Corvette's 60th anniversary while they were at it. That badge on the nose isn't decoration, it's the reason this particular car exists. So when the owner came to us, the wheels had to respect that instead of talking over it.
We started with a render, like always. Cyber gray outside, red interior, red calipers sitting behind the spokes. The car had already told us what it wanted. Our job was to build something that looked like it could have left the factory that way.
The setup is our SV07 Monoblock. 18x9.5 up front at +24 and 19x12 out back at +49, 5x120.65 bolt pattern, 70.3 hub bore, conical seat. The widths match what the Grand Sport came with, but the offsets pull both ends out toward the arches, more up front than the rear. Same footprint the car was built around, just finally sitting where the body always wanted it.
The faces are Gloss Obsidian Black and everything else on the wheel is red. The grooves in the rim, the text, the logos, all of it filled by hand. Then the detail that makes the whole set. We engraved 60 YEARS into the rim and filled that red as well, so the wheel carries the same badge that's sitting on the hood. Stand back and you just see a clean black wheel on a gray car. Get close and the entire anniversary story is right there in the rim.
The part we like most is the process. Watching a wheel go from a render, to something being built on the floor here, to the day it's finally under the car. You don't get that buying off a shelf.
The red fill picks up the interior and the calipers without anyone having to point it out, and the monoblock construction keeps weight down on a car running factory brakes and suspension. It still looks like a Grand Sport. It just looks like one somebody thought about.
From render to reality. That's what Forgelite does. We build wheels around the car, the vision, and the person who owns it.
